Among the wide range of approvals given by above agencies, EES is also a part of AQMD’s following certifications program:

Rule 1121, Control of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) from Residential Type, Natural Gas-Fired Water Heaters.

This rule applies to units that have a rated heat input capacity less than 75,000 Btu per hour. This rule imposes an emissions limit of 14 nanogram of NOx (calculated as NO2) per joule of heat output for residential type, natural gas-fired water heaters. Natural Gas-Fired Water Heaters require testing to certify with 14 nanogram of NOx (calculated as NO2) per joule emissions limit before they can be supplied, offered for sale or sold.

Rule 1146.2, Control of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) from Large Water Heaters, Small Boilers and Process Heaters.

This rule applies to units that have a rated heat input capacity less than or equal to 2,000,000 Btu per hour. This rule imposes an emissions limit of 14 nanogram of NOx (calculated as NO2) per joule of heat output or less than 20 ppm of NOx corrected @3% of O2. These combustion equipment must also be tested and certified before they can be supplied, offered for sale or sold. Compliance will be based either on nanogram per joule or on concentration basis (parts per million, or pounds per million Btu heat input).
